Scalable Vector Graphics is a dynamic 2D graphics format that enables designers to create graphics elements using XML. The unique functionality of SVG to render visual elements is creating new graphics horizons for design on the Internet. Designing SVG Web Graphics presents real-world examples of design tasks (such as creating a logo, navigation bar, or even a full web page) embedded within the strict XML aspect of SVG. In doing so, the author pulls both graphic designers and web developers into a new direction of unprecedented Web development. This book eases traditional graphics designers into XML to create SVG without losing the visual appeal of form and design. It also examines the design capabilities of SVG in a way strict XML developers can grasp that enables them to increase the visual appeal of their current development projects.

�ber die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Andrew Watt is an independent Web consultant, and principal of XMML.com, specializing in XML technologies as well as more traditional Web technologies such as HTML/XHTML, Java and Lotus Domino. Andrew wrote his first programs around 1984, in 6502 Assembler and BBC Basic. In 1994 he was exposed to the power of the World Wide Web. In 1996 he was excited by the power of Lotus Domino and more recently has focussed on XML-based technologies. SVG is a key interest in that area. His work with SVG has included the development of SVGSpider.com - the world's "first" all-SVG web site. He co-authored Platinum Edition Using XHTML, XML & Java 2 and XHTML By Example for Que Publishing and contributed to Professional XSL for Wrox.
