Fascinating account of American involvement in World War II by advertising executive James Webb Young, J. Walter Thompson executive and founder of the War Advertising Council, later the Ad Council, which coordinated the production and distribution of such iconic campaigns as "Rosie the Riveter", "the Crying Indian" anti-pollution advertisements of the 1970s, and "Smokie the Bear". His is an extraordinarily well-written account, full of humor and trenchant observations about leading politicians of the day, as well as President Roosevelt himself. This is the First Edition (first printing) in Near-Fine condition in a Good dust jacket. The book is square and solid. It has a single 1/8" spot at the top of the spine, is otherwise completely clean and unmarked inside and out. None of the corners are bumped and there is no visible rub wear to the edges. There is light dust soiling to the book's crown. The dust jacket is not clipped but does have several chips and tears along the top edge, the longest of which is about 3/4". The jacket has a few light creases and a hint of soiling only visible on the white back panel. We will pack the book in bubble-wrap and ship it in a box with tracking and insurance.
