This VG- quality and first edition book was copyrighted in 1928 and published by A. L. Burt & Company; it is 7-1/2" tall with 228 numbered pages of text followed by 12 unnumbered pages of ads. This book--brown cloth binding with gilt lettering--is square, quite clean, free of corner bumps and edge dings; the head and heel of the spine are lightly bumped with some fraying at both places. The bottom edges have a rather great amount of wear--at several places, the tiny portions of the boards are exposed; the top edge of the boards are similarly worn. Fabric for 1/8" of the top of the front gutter is missing. The spine is not faded and is clean and the lettering, though a tad bit worn, is still legible. Except for a purple inked stamp ("AUG 8 1930") on the FFEP, the interior is completely free of writing, stray marks and page damage of any type; pages 8-9 (see photo) suffered ink stains from our early young printer. Both hinges are quite strong and undamaged. The text paper is very mildly toned and is quite flexible and not at all brittle. The frontis is on coated paper and is clean and intact. The book has no remainder mark and is not a former library book. The list at the rear of the book lists through title #5 of this series; the list on the rear panel of the jacket lists through this title. The G+ quality jacket is clean and has a moderate amount of wear. There is slight wear along the front fold, with small chips at both front corners, small chips along the top edge of the rear panel, a 1" tear at the bottom of the front gutter and a 1/2" tear with folds at the top of the front panel. But the serious damage is at the head of the spine, where a 1-1/2" chunk takes out much of the title. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers BMR-2020-8-15-3
