A scarce copy of this John Burningham book, 'The Dog' which was part of a series of books ' 'Litte Books' aimed at young children. Designed by Jan Pienkowski. Approx 51/2 inches by 6 inches. This particular book drew criticism at the time using a term showing the dog urinating in the garden! As ridiculous as this criticism was, this is a sweet little book with John Burninghams' lovely illustrations and simple text. Please note: The boards are lightly age toned otherwise very good. The spine is complete. There are some light markings to back of rear board and a few pages. Some dustiness to edges of pastedowns. An inscription in pencil to first page. Otherwise, no other writing etc. John Burningham also illustrated Ian Fleming's children's book 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang'. Not exlib and packed and sent with care.
