Very uncommon 1st Modern Library edition, in red balloon cloth with gilt tree and lettering to the spine but blindstamped image on the front board, with Rockwell Kent endpapers and stated 1st Modern Library edition at the copyright, with the lovely jacket design by Wuyts. The book is in superb condition. Binding is perfectly solid, sound, square. Interior, though age-toned, is immaculate and clean. No marks anywhere except to inner flap of jacket where the price has been blacked out in sharpie. Red topstain to pages is bold and clean. Jacket has a clean split, otherwise also remarkable. Split is at the joint of the front panel and spine. Besides this, a couple of large chips to the front panel and a couple of small closed tears. DJ darkened along the spine and with two distinct stains. Small closed tear on the rear panel by the joint of the spine. Even being torn, this is very attractive now in new brodart, and overall this is a lovely copy of this hard to find edition of this title. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers ABE-1700610048947
