First U.K. edition. Publisher's file copy, noted as such to the front endpaper. The book is reasonably firmly bound in blue cloth lettered in gilt, the extremities are slightly bumped and rubbed. The text block is slightly toned, foxed and dusty. The dust jacket is the original and not price clipped, it is slightly grubby and rubbed with small areas of loss and short closed tears to the edges. An intriguing novel, set in Norway during WW2, telling the story of the resistance when the Nazis arrived at a small fishing village. There is a colour illustrated frontispiece replicating the jacket artwork and several other black and white illustrations throughout the text, the artist was Harold Minton.
