First edition hardcover, bound in brown cloth, with a paste-in paper illustration on front cover and dark brown lettering as well, and dark brown lettering on spine, is in G condition, having a crease down the center of front cover where at one time it was bent (fortunately it doesn't seem too apparent when the front cover is viewed, but on the first fixed endpaper it's more evident); some slanting to spine; light rubbing/scuffing to covers and spine; small stain at top left of back cover; corners bumped and worn; slight shaking to volume (most apparent in the first endpaper hinge); two tiny tears to the edges of the "Chapter 1" header page; light handling wear to pages. Book is illustrated by Stuart Hay with the color cover illustration (which is repeated as the frontispiece), and numerous b&w line drawings throughout the book. Children's fiction. DB.
