WARD, WITH HIS SIGNATURE: "Personal Copy/ Grant E. Ward" (on front flyleaf, see photo). In the last paragraph in the Preface, Howard A. Kelly wrote of Grant Ward: "Finally, it is with no little satisfaction that I pen a tribute to my long-time colleague Grant E. Ward, who throughout has manifested an extraordinary hold on the by no means easy problems involved with electrosurgery, bringing his abundant clinical and laboratory material to illustrate our joint work" (p. vi). Grant Ward received his M.D. degree from Johns Hopkins in 1921. Thereafter he held a positions in surgery at both the Johns Hopkins Medical School and Johns Hopkins Hospital, as well as at the University of Maryland Medical School. There are notes in the text, some in ink and some in pencil, presumably all by Grant Ward.
