** THIS IS "STUDY" NOT "EXPOSITION" ** RARE ** 1ST EDITION, 1953, 923 PAGES ** VERY THICK, VERY HEAVY HARDOVER ** INCLUDES ALL ORIGINAL FOLD-OUTS ** FORMER LIBRARY BOOK ** CLEAN AND STAIN-FREE ** TEXT UNMARKED ** LAVISHLY ILLUSTRATED ** Published in London by MacDonald & Evans Ltd., 1953, with 923 pages, dozens of photographs, drawings, charts, and tables, and two quite large, extended fold-outs. NOTE: The photos you can access with this listing are of the actual book you will be sent; please examine them closely as they provide the best indication of condition. NOTE: This book should not be confused with Aitchison's much earlier book subtitled ?An Exposition of . . .? This 1953 volume is greatly expanded and completely re-written, a much different book. Minimally marked former library book, from the library of the Babcock & Wilcox Tube Company, not publicly circulated. A well-made book, bound in heavy-duty cloth-covered boards with embossed gilt lettering on the spine. The book has no significant flaws, shows only brief, very occasional, minor signs of use (some written notations on the blank front page). The book is quite clean and stain-free, square and straight, still firm in its binding, no pages are loose, torn, or missing. The hinges are sound and undamaged. The cloth binding shows virtually no wear, no tears, no fraying, no rubbed or worn spots. The pages are clean and stain-free, and all text and illustrations are crisp and legible. The fold-outs are intact and untorn. Aside from the notes on the front page, we detected no writing, underlining, highlighting, or other such markings in the book.
