First edition, in the publisher's original cloth binding, with white cloth to the spine and blue cloth to the boards.Dated using JISC from copies of the work held at the Historic England Library. 'The English Interior' celebrates the decoration of English homes from the Tudor times to the XIXth Century. Written by Arthur Stratton, a fellow of the Society of Antiquaries, London and of the Royal Institute of British Architects.This work on British domestic architecture solely focuses on the development of the interior of these wonderful homes, considering the decoration of ceilings, fireplaces and chimneys, doors and staircases.Illustrated with a frontispiece and a further one-hundred-and-fifteen plates. Collated, complete. Plate XLV has been bound before XLIV.With a list of subscribers to the front of the volume. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with white cloth to the spine and blue cloth to the boards. Externally, sound with slight rubbing. Light bumping to the extremities and to the spine. White cloth is slightly soiled, with darkening to the spine. Light marking to boards. Small split to the cloth at the tail of the rear joint. A touch of offsetting to endpapers.
