Beschreibung
Large 8vo. Pp. xvi, 243, followed by several page of ads germane to printing and supplies. Foreword by Martin Hardie. Title page vignette. Amply illustrated with many examples of historic genres and milieux, methods, subject matter, etc. Bibliography. Index. Bound in three-quarter blue cloth over decorated paper-covered boards, printed label on spine. Spine label chipped. Wear to extremities of cover. Former owner name, address and date (1942) on front pastedown. Rear free-endpaper with slight loss. Despite the detracting qualities, a sturdy, well-bound copy of this solid reference work. Published the year after the first edition, using the same sheets, with the added imprint of Dodd, Mead. From the technical aspects of printmaking to biographies and analyses of lauded (and less known) printmakers to the mounting and care of prints, the book is a handy reference for the student of print history. Includes reference to William Strang, one of our faves, along with the usual suspects and, happily, some obscure practitioners. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 1646
