Condition Binding good to poor as needs rebinding, gilt embossed front cover good, almost detached, rear fair, mostly good, side is mildly water stained, lacks spine. Contents good, title page foxed, engraving mostly very good, some minor ageing, finger marks, no inscriptions. From BL it would appear there was a book titled Examples of modern architecture ecclesiastical and domestic, consisting of views and plans of executed works by various architects. With a variant title Executed examples of churches chapels & mansions Published by S. Birbeck, Bookseller &c, Birmingham, [1873]. As same as on front coverCover title: Executed examples of churches, chapels, & mansion £2-2 -0. the engraving are by the experienced architectural draughtsman John Richard Jobbins. The same as this so presume this copy we have was the original and the 1873 was a later and edition with more plates. There was also an 1870 enlarged American with the variant title. Our edition the architects include Walter Scott, John P. Seddon; R.J.Withers, E.L.Blackburne, G.F.Bodley; John Johnson. W. & G Audsley, John Newton, John Taylor and others, most are in England with at least one by an English artist of a church in Europe.
