Montague (1857-1889) was an Editor at the Boston "Globe" who wrote several mystery and speculative fiction works. This is a Near Fine copy of the First Edition, one of the publisher's "Popular American Novels" series. Listed Hubin, p.296. Attractive decorative binding, red cloth, with a floral design stamped in black; titling in gilt on the spine. Clean text; 248 pages with three pages of publisher's adverts in the rear. Textblock is very bright and clear, but a previous-owner signature on the FFEP has been blacked out. Spine lightly faded to a rose colour; with a very slight lean. Else, a Fine copy of this early American mystery. In an archival plastic protector. Size: 8vo - over 7�" - 9�" tall. Bestandsnummer des Verk�ufers 005783
