VERY RARE illustrated hardcover book. "Fall in!" By various Authors. Edited by Herbert Strang. Undated, but believed to be the First Edition, published by Humphrey Milford, Oxford University Press, circa 1918. 4to, 22.4 cm x 18 cm x 1.5 cm. Red cloth-covered spine, Printed paper-covered boards with inlaid colour vignette on front cover, Unpaginated, 2 full-page colour illustrations on plates, no dust-jacket. Undated, inscription in book reads Christmas 1918. Weight: 232 Grams. CONTENTS ARE IN GOOD CLEAN CONDITION!!! However, there is much outer wear & tear to covers. There are several cracks between pages throughout. Spine is discoloured, loose in places, vertical ridges down middle, bumped either end with cloth frayed & worn away. Cover is very worn, bumped, discoloured by damp, scuffed & scratched (including vignette), with much wear & tear to extremities & edges with some of the illustrated paper cover missing from both sides in places. Corners bumped & frayed with boards exposed & worn away. both boards have creasing. Splits in between pastedowns & endpapers at front & rear of book. Damp marks on p.downs & e.ps, small piece of backing paper missing from last p.down. Ink annotations & remnants of pencil on 1st e.p. Some pages & plates have corner folds/creases, and/or tiny edge bumps/nicks/tears, and/or creasing & slight damage either end of spine area. One page has large diagonal crease showing through as an indent to adjacent pages either side of it. Light age tanning & rare foxing throughout. VERY RARE STORY BOOK, GOOD CONDITION INSIDE!!!
