1914. First edition. [x], 187pp., and 21 of 22 listed tipped-in and tissue-guarded portrairts (the frontispiece portrait of William Drummond of Hawthornden is missing). Top edge gilt. This is a collection of twenty-two brief biographies of famous students of Edinburgh University. The majority of the articles had previously appeared in 'The Student,' the official magazine of Edinburgh University, in Session 1907-1908. The book is bound in the original blue buckram covered boards with gold titling on the spine and front board. The case of the book is in very good condition with some shelf wear on the boards and light bumping to the top of the spine. The contents are tight and clean with no inscription.
