First edition, undated (British Library states 1929 for 4to edition - there was also a small 8vo edition). Plates mounted on grey card. Illustrated by Barbara Briggs, F.Z.S. Eleanor E. Helme (1887-1967) was an accomplished golfer, member of the English 1911-1920 womens international golf teams, and member of the association of Golf Writers. In very good beige boards, with green linen-effect cloth boards, and tipped in colour illustration of sea bird to front. The covers are straight, quite clean and firm; spine cloth ends a little worn. Very lightly tanned free end papers; book plate to front free end paper. Tiny yellow bookseller's sticker to rear paste down for J. & W. Gilbert, Egham. Tanned cut edges; the fore and tail edges are deckled. The text block is in very good condition; with 16 lovely tipped-in colour and other illustrations by Barbara Briggs.
