Scarce collection of graphical financial abaci, devised by the highly regarded Belgian mathematician, Maurice Kraitchik. Kraitchik is best remembered for his work on number theory and for his life-long concern with recreational math and advanced problems of applied mathematics. This volume is very uncommonly seen in the marketplace; it is of rather unusual construction, with each table/abacus being printed on a coated galvanized steel board. Text is in 4 languages ? English, French, Spanish and German. The author?s explanatory text is printed in 4 languages on a smaller overlay printed both sides. Publisher?s metal rule is laid in for use in obtaining results. Devised as a method to achieve quick results with determining yield, rate etc for a range of financial instruments ? without recourse to calculation. Original binding material of green cloth with titles stamped in gilt to cover. Titled leather spine is detached and laid in. Contents complete and clean, but extended storage has introduced a curve to the metal plates/pages. They could perhaps be evened with a press.
