Beschreibung
Elspeth Huxley describes her childhood in Africa, amongst the Kikuyu during the years just before the First World War. With her valiant mother and hopeful, gullible, kindly father she trekked out to make a home in the Kenya wilderness. The condition of the book: some spotting on the edges of the text block, which is square and tightly bound. The dark green of the cloth-bound boards and the gilt lettering on the spine remain strong and even and the board edges and corners are all still sharp - no bumps, dents, scratches or marks. Internally, the pages are all unmarked and spotless apart from the top of the ffep on which a former owner's name is neatly written in pencil. The famously vivid and flamboyant colours of the dust jacket are bright and strong on the front panel, slightly less so on the spine, and the publisher's original price (16s NET) is still where it should be.
