Original paperback featuring typical "pulp fiction" art. This copy is a first printing, but it has some wear on the cover, which is typical of most copies. They were true pulp items, not designed for collecting, but that means they were often simply thrown away and because of that they have become rare and highly collectable. This is why a copy like this becomes a nice collectable pulp, and it is from the master of the genre Hank Janson. Hank Janson was an invention of the English writer Stephen Frances. Following the Second World War, American pulp fiction paperbacks were banned from export into the UK. Consequently, Janson's very sexual and violent fantasies filled a gap in the British market that became hugely profitable, with sales of each title often going at 4,000 copies a day. His career was cut short by an obscenity trial in 1954. The Janson publishers and distributors were jailed, although Frances escaped prosecution by fleeing to Spain. The trial created the Obscene Publications Act. Flight From Fear has a slight slant and a scrappy spine. Cover art is gorgeous and typical. First edition, first printing and increasingly rare.
