Beschreibung
Scarce 1960s hippie Beat Generation title with classic 1960s-vintage cover artwork. From cover blurb: "Whether you're square or hip, you'll dig this novel of a groovy chick doing her thing at the hippie crossroads of America, Haight-Ashbury". From first page: "Make way for Flower Power! A wild and wacky novel of America's 'Love Generation' that gets you out of your up-tight bag and frees you to enjoy the grooviest action this side of an LSDelicious sugar cube. This is one mixed-media experience you can enjoy with the lights on! So if 'dig we must,' start digging Flower Power". From rear cover (in full): "Phyllis Greenfield was sweet sixteen - and never been stoned. Life was passing her by. So she ran away from her comfortable home in Cleveland, Ohio, and went to Haight-Ashbury to make the Underground Scene. There she met Furman, a young Black acid-head who wanted to be an FBI agent - or at least a member of the Hell?s Angels. Furman rechristened her 'Flower' and brought her to his crash pad where she settled down to making the protest rallies with Me, a mystic love-child who took her to a swinging guru. And Signal, who caught special vibrations by making sex a mixed-media happening. And Tripper, who convinced her that LSD was the only ticket to visiting Inner Space. Flower was grooving in the switched-on life until one day the straight and the hippie worlds clashed in a battle that taught her the true meaning of FLOWER POWER!". The author, Ernest Tidyman (1928-1984), is best known for his novels featuring the African-American detective John Shaft. Flower Power is his debut novel. Paperback Library 52-643. First printing, March 1968, stated. All edges of book block stained red, as issued. Mass market paperback. Printed in the USA. Slight handling wear, mild marginal toning, otherwise a nice clean tight solid softcover copy. 160pp. RARE. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 037013
