First edition bound in red ribbed cloth with embossed gilt figure of a horseman and gilt spine lettering. Black and white plates by John Lee ch. 115 pages. The title page states "The Field Office, Strand: then W ard & Locke. 5" x 7 1/2" hardcover is in Good condition. Rubs and fray s to the spine ends and along the spine edges. Bumps to the corners. T he frontis page is detached, but is included. The front hinge is crack ed at the front endpapers and the sewing is exposed, but the binding i s still tight.
