Beschreibung
The first edition of Sir Arthur Quiller-Couch's final finished novel, with this particular copy belonging to English Victorian socialite, Lady Edward Cecil. The first edition. Uncommon work. This copy belonged to English socialite of the Victorian and Edwardian eras, Violet Milner, or as she was previously known, Lady Edward Cecil after she married the son of Prime Minister Salisbury, Lord Edward Cecil. With her signature to the head of the front board. Written by British author, Arthur Quiller-Couch, known as 'Q', who was best known for his prolific novel-writing, as well as for his important publication of 'The Oxford Book of English Verse'. Quiller-Couch was born in the Cornish town of Bodmin, with this upbringing having a large influence on his writing, such as this one. 'Foe-Farrell' is a thrilling tale of adventure and betrayal, set in the rustic Cornish countryside. Quiller-Couch displays both the beauty and danger of the landscape in which he was raised, with this intriguing mystery novel. Bound in the publisher's original red cloth. Externally, generally smart, with fading to the spine and extremities. Slight bumping to the extremities and head and tail of the spine, with a little fraying to the spine. The odd mark to cloth, with an ink inscription to the front board. Pencil inscription to the front endpaper. Spots to the fore edge. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. One or two pencil annotations. Good. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 907Q4
