Photographs; 4to 11" - 13" tall; 1st edition. Prior ownership inscription of legendary Bucknell Bisons football coach, Edward "Hook" Mylin. Signed card laid in at front "Compliments of Allan P. Kirby" the powerful industrialist, financier and philanthropist of the Woolworth and Allegeheny Co fame. Bound in original pebbled blue cloth with titles in blind to cover and slightly dulled gilt to spine. Pictorial dust jacket is missing a few chips at edges and spine ends. A hint of attic odor. Solid and neat. VG+/VG- Edward "Hook" Mylin was inducted to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1974. He is remembered as the coach of the Bucknell Team that played in the first Orange Bowl in 1938, demolishing a University of Miami team 28-0, while allowing only 28 yards of Offense. He took Lafayette College to an undefeated record (from a 1-8 showing the year prior) in his 1st year as coach. The gift card from Allan P Kirby suggest the book was a gift to Mylin from Kirby, remembered as a successful powerbroker in finance and railroads, a principla in the founding of Woolworth 5 & 10, chairman of the Allegheny Co., etc. Solid attractive copy with impressive provenance. ; Signed by Notable Personage, Related.
