Two first edition volumes of topographical and historical works by Thomas Dudley Fosbroke, illustrated throughout. Present here are the first edition of the second volume of Fosbroke's 'Encyclopaedia of Antiquities', and the first edition of his sequel to that work, 'Foreign Topography'. In quarter morocco bindings, with marbled paper covered boards. Significant rubbing externally. Joints starting, with front board of 'Foreign Topography' tenderly held by one cord only, and remaining boards holding firm. Significant loss to head of ' 'Encyclopaedia of Antiquities' back strip, with entirety of 'Foreign Topography' back strip lacking. Library bookplate to front pastedown of one volume, and library inscription to other front pastedown. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages of 'Encyclopaedia of Antiquities' age toned, with spotting and areas of foxing. 'Foreign Topography' pages brighter, but with some spotting. Library markings to title page versos. Fair.
