1945. Presumed first edition. 74pp. The Fulani, or Fula people are one of the largest ethnic groups in the Sahel and West Africa, widely dispersed across the region. Inhabiting many countries, they live mainly in West Africa and northern parts of Central Africa but also in South Sudan, Darfur, Eritrea, and regions near the Red Sea coast. This book is a brief study of the Fulani of Northern Nigeria, and includes chapters on their legendary origin, mode of living, culture, leadership, control of herds, cattle husbandry, cattle markings, games and festivals, and superstitious beliefs. There is a vocabulary at the end of the book. The book is staple bound in the original green thin card covers with black titling on the front cover. The book is in very good condition with shelf wear and soiling and a little staining on the covers. The corners of the front cover are curled and creased and there is a little damage and loss to the paper covering the spine ends. Small rust stains from the staples show through near the spine edge of the covers. The contents are secure and clean with some foxing on the title and contents pages.
