Hard Cover. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Dust Jacket. First Edition. (London: Jonathan Cape 1964). First UK Edition, first impression in the photographic dustwrapper designed by Raymond Hawkey priced at 18s. 319 pp. Publisher's black cloth with blue rubber-stamp motif and blind 'downgraded to unclassified' box blocked to upper board, gilt titles to spine. Endpapers printed in German 'black letter' type. Boards exceptionally bright and clean. A former owner's name in biro to the verso of the front free end-paper otherwise a bright and clean near fine copy. The dustwrapper is VG indeed with no chips or pieces missing. It is lightly creased to the head of the spine and has a hint of creasing to the corners. On the verso of the dustwrapper there is a faint strip of browning that just shows through in one place to the top of the front panel. Basis for the 1966 movie of the same name directed by Guy Hamilton and produced by Harry Saltzman starring Michael Caine as 'Harry Palmer'. Mention of the film 'From Russia, With Love' appears on the dustwrapper flap, as does a quote from Queen magazine, claiming Deighton's hero was "James Bond's most serious rival". Quite a nice copy. Further photographs available upon request. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 355490725399
