The controversial plan for Germany post-WWII first announced by US Secretary of the Treasury Henry Morgenthau in 1944, which called for the immediate total deindustrialization of the country, with a focus on extracting reparations for its wrongdoings during the war, as well as its forced political and economic decentralization, and transformation into a pastoral society. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt OK'd it, only to regret it when the plan was vigorously decried at home and abroad.
