After a degree in Law he worked for Criminal court. He first became famous fro his translations of the classics from Greek and Latin, he wrote in the neoclassic style common at the time of napoleon. Foscolo disliked him. This book was his first and only shot at the epic style, even it was published in 1819 he kept on working on it and after his death some parts still unedited were found.
