Orange cloth lettered in green. 296pp. His debut novel, rare in the jacket: 'The reader is dropped straight into the world of whizz mobs, of gaffs and mouthpieces and bogies, where "only saps work" and failures "take the rap".' Sometimes found with 8pp. of adverts bound in, never present here; a card for the publisher's periodical 'Now and Then' is loosely inserted. Slightly spotted and marked to the edges, the cloth dust-dulled at the head and less so the tail, the occasional spot internally but generally bright. Some peripheral darkening and superficial rubbing to the jacket, a little soiling such as to the lower corner of the upper panel, and nicks primarily around the spine ends, which are moderately frayed, but crisp enough for the most part, and presenting well.
