Here goes: "The Glass Harmonica" is no ordinary lexicon. It defies any brief description. Unless one were to call it The Webster of the Weird. But it is so much more than that. For it nimbly describes and defines all the inhabitants of that slightly delirious demimonde of dragons-sorcerers and white knights that really existed a spell or so ago. When the world still believed in heroes and magic. And we did too." I am very pleased to be able to offer a very nice copy of: "The Glass Harmonica- A Lexicon of the Fantastical" by Barbara Ninde Byfield with illustrations by the Author. This medium-sized hard cover book (8 ¼ x 10 ¼ inches 160 pages) was published by The Macmillan Company of New York dated 1967 and the First Printing (so stated). The book is bound in red cloth with gilt titles on the spine and protected by a printed paper dust jacket. In discussing the illustrations, I revert to quoting the flap of the dust jacket to wit: "If you prefer pictures to words rejoice. The author's hand having written moved on to draw scores of startingly accurate illustrations of everything from queens and quicksand to flags-friars and frogs in their favorite attitudes. You may recognize many of them from your pleasantest dreams. Or from your most wretched nightmares. If you will turn to page one The Glass Harmonica will introduce you to them properly." Please see the photos of the Table of Contents for your further information. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The dust jacket is toned around the margins and shows some light edge wear (please see the photos). The hard covers are clean and bright although perhaps a bit dust-dulled and showing some very minor bumping. Inside the book is unmarked although the endpapers also have a shadow from the effect of the flap of the dust jacket. The interior pages are without blemish or wear.
