No saint, with flashy dress and a reputation for gambling, Mangrum played the 1951 St. Paul Open under police protection after an anonymous death threat. He won the tournament anyway. Mangrum served under General Patton in WWII and was awarded two Purple Hearts. The original, Mangrum was the first pro golfer to fly his own plane to tournaments. Uncommon British edition.
