Beschreibung
Two very smart first editions from Irish-British novelist Jean Irish Murdoch, with the original unclipped dust wrappers. Two volumes. First edition, first impression. Written by Dame Jean Iris Murdoch, an Irish-British novelist and philosopher known for her novels about good and evil, sexual relationships, morality, and the power of the unconscious. This set includes: The Green Knight, 1993. The lives of Louise Anderson and her daughters become intertwined with a mystical character whose destiny both affects and informs the novel's central conflicts, including a murder that never actually occurs. Jackson's Dilemma, 1995. Edward Lannion, the young master of Hatting Hall, is about to marry Marian Berran. Family and friends gather, the night is warm and clear, then the most remarkable event occurs. This work was Murdoch's final novel as she battled with Alzheimer's disease, one of the symptoms of which is a reduced vocabulary and decreased word fluency. Researchers at University College London found in 2004 this novel offered a "unique opportunity" to study the effects of Alzheimer's on spontaneous writing. In the original full green cloth binding. Externally, excellent. Original unclipped dust wrappers are also excellent. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean throughout. Fine. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 905T79
