[1, 680pp]. 5 fold-out engraved plates in vol-1 & 10 fold-out engraved plates in vol-2. Plates in very nice condition. Each volume has a slim green silk bookmark. Both volumes lack free front endpaper. Spine head rubbed on vol-2. Light edge scuffing. First few pages have darkened edges & text has occasional age toning ; it is mostly bright & clean. Montucla"s first volume covered Greek, Roman, and Eastern traditions, while the second covered geometry, mechanics and optics up to the seventeenth century.
