First edition of Harding's Portfolio in half calf binding and cloth boards.A lovely scarce collection of tinted lithographic plates by the nineteenth century British artist.With only three other copies held in libraries.James Duffield Harding was best known for his use of tinted papers and opaque paints in watercolour, which was influential at the time.With twenty four plates. Collated, complete. In half calf binding and cloth boards. Externally, smart. There is some bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. There is some wear to the cloth in these areas. Internally, firmly bound. The pages have suffered from spotting throughout as is usually seen with this work. There are wide margins. Good.
