The Helena May is a heritage building that is a much-revered private women's club and women's residence/hotel on Garden Road in Central, Hong Kong. It originated in 1914 and has occupied the same building the entire time. The book is a history of the woman who founded it, the building and organization, along with much on Hong Kong's social history a and women's issues in the former British colony. Helena's husband was governor-general of Hong Kong in the early 1900s'and Helena, with four daughters, was aware of the lack of facilities for women and girls in Hong Kong. With investments from prominent citizens and her efforts, the organization was founded in 1914. Many black and white and more modern color photographic illustrations.
