Beschreibung
First U.S Edition of Iris Murdoch's thrilling novel 'Henry and Cato' Murdoch's eighteenth novel 'Henry and Cato' centres on the relationship between two childhood friends who have been apart for a number of years. Henry, an art historian, and Cato, a Roman Catholic priest, are each facing upheaval both physically and spiritually. Murdoch's novel follows them both on this journey as their lives once again converge. With themes of symmetry and doubleness, the plot includes a violent kidnapping, at times verging on the side of thriller. Iris Murdoch was a British novelist and philosopher, born in Ireland. Primarily her novels focus on themes of morality, spirituality and sexuality. A prominent philosopher, she is now increasingly accredited for her work in the field of philosophy, most notably her work on the reinterpretation of Aristotle and Plato, as well as her discussions of moral philosophy. In her lifetime Murdoch wrote 26 novels, as well of a series of short stories and several philosophical papers. In original quarter cloth binding, held in a unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, smart with slight bumping to the head and tail of the spine. There is minor rubbing to the extremities. Minor spotting to the top edge. The dustwrapper is smart, with slight bumping to the head and tail of the spine. There is a small amount of age toning to the front and rear of wrap, to the head. Small tear to the joint of the front flyleaf. A small amount of spotting, internally to the wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed.
