Portrait frontis with tissue guard, and illustrated colour title page printed in blue, red, brown, and gilt. 13 plates, as called for, of which one is folding and two are attractively hand-coloured, and one additional plate, not mentioned in list of illustrations. Engraved in-text illustrations. 'An account of the receipts and disbursements of the Church-wardens of the Parish of Dartford, Kent, 1843-4' bound in, with separate title page, before index. Minor scattered foxing, particularly to early and late pages. John Dunkin (1782-1846), topographer, antiquary, and printer. 'The History and Antiquities of Dartford' was Dunkin's final work; following his death in 1846 he was buried, according to his own instructions, in the cemetery of St Edmund's church, Dartford, as near as possible to the Roman burial-ground of Noviomagus, described extensively in 'The History and Antiquities' (pp. 91-97) (ODNB).
