Hamilton College is a private college in Clinton, Oneida County, New York. Hamilton began in 1793 as the Hamilton-Oneida Academy, a seminary founded by Rev. Samuel Kirkland as part of his missionary work with the Oneida tribe. The seminary admitted both white and indigenous men. It was named in honor of Alexander Hamilton, on the Board of Trustees.
