Beschreibung
A smart first edition of this illustrated study of the George worn by Charles I. First edition. Illustrated throughout with frontispiece and fourteen plates with tissue guards. Collated complete. A detailed study with reference to the trail and execution of Charles I, the George as described by important figures, the restoration of the George to Charles II, and the identification of the scaffold George in its history. Written by Sir Ralph Payne-Gallwey, an English engineer, historian, ballistics expert, and artist. In the original cream cloth binding. Externally, very smart with light shelf wear to the extremities. Fading to the spine and the odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd spot. Age toning to the endpapers. Previous owner's bookplate to the front pastedown. Contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper. Very Good. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 857T33
