1827. First edition. vi, 384pp. This is a fascinating account of the important events with which Leith, Edinburgh, has been connected, since Leith first became associated with the eventful history of Scotland up to the start of the 19th century. It includes an interesting account of golf in Leith (pages 217 to 220), and a large section near the end of the book on the "present" state of that includes a list of vessels from foreign parts that entered and discharged at the Port of Leith in 1825 and imports in that year. The book has been rebacked and recased in later (probably c2000) grey cloth covered boards with gold titling on the spine (the remains of the original paper wrappers have been pasted onto new reinforcing paper and are bound in at the start and end of the book). The case of the book is in very good condition. The contents are tight and clean apart from a few small marks and some scattered light foxing. The fore edge of the text block is also foxed and on some pages this has seeped a little way into the fore margin. There is a previous owner's circular personal blind-stamped seal on the bottom corner of the title-page. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers gLeith02
