His most famous illustrations within Mrs. Gaskell's 'Cranford' inspired the naming of his 'Cranford School' of Illustration.Contents include 'Early Years in Ireland', 'The Jane Austen Novels', 'Shakespeare and Sheridan and Barrie', and 'The War Years- The End'.Written by M. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart. Light wear to the extremities and the spine, particularly to the head of spine, with light fading to the spine and the margins of boards. Prize bookplate to verso of front endpaper.
