This VG Appleton book,a first edition, was published in September, 1908. It is 7-5/8" x 4-3/4" with 246 numbered pages; there is a page listing the frontis + 3; all are on coated paper and all are present and firmly attached. The book has a slight lean and the exterior is reasonably clean; moreover, it is free of edge dings and corner bumps; the spine ends are bumped without fabric damage, only a little color loss. The lettering and illustration on the spine are intact and the spine, unlike the rest of the exterior, has soiling and signs of wear. The action-packed illustration on the front panel is as good as new. The interior is very clean and completely free of writing, stray marks, stains and page damage. The paper is very lightly toned and though just slightly stiff is still flexible and not brittle; end pages have a slight amount of toning. The hinges are very strong and not damaged in any way.
