A very good book in a very good unclipped dust jacket. Minor soiling to the boards. Jacket has some edge wear and soiling to the rear panel. Small chip a the top of the spine and front panel.Owner name on first end paper. Czapski was a Polish artist, author, and critic, as well as an officer of the Polish Army who survived the Russian massacre at the Katyn Forest in 1940. The first English translation of Czapski's account of his search for missing Polish officers during World War II and the negotiations with Russian authorities on the whereabouts of Polish POW's.
