The original olive card covers bound into now lightly rubbed/marked leaf green cloth boards with a black leather, or leatherette, spine. 7 gilt bands to the spine and titled in gilt to the spine and the front board. All hinges tight. Page edges red speckled. Internally new plain endpapers. The heraldic bookplate of John Davies Knatchbull Lloyd. F. S. A on the front pastedown (Born 1900, High Sheriff Montgomeryshire 1940, Antiquary, Aesthete, and friend of John Betjeman). Opposite this is the pencil inscription of C. E. V. Owen DD. JDKL. Dec 1978. Also loosely included with this copy is a 10pp typed copy of 'An Historical Aspect of Rhayader' with CEVO initialled in pencil, a page of MSS notes by him and a printed leaflet 'Notes on the History of Abbey-Cwmhir' with C. E. Vaughan Owens' name & date 14-ix-20 in ink. (xxii) + 158pp. 65 figures, 3 folding maps at rear. Occasional marginal and other annotations, and the odd mark by one or other of the former owners. Overall obviously used, pages slightly 'wavy', but all well preserved in the newer binding and generally very clean.
