Sm. folio. 1-27, 87-3, [2], 181pp. Original tan cloth with black lettering in Japanese on spine. Profusely illustrated with color and b/w photographic reproductions of Islamic pottery, mainly from Japanese collections. Islamic pottery became popular in Japan in the mid 1920's when Yamanaka & Company imported it from all over the world. Because of the deeply rooted Japanese interest in the culture of ancient Persia, the Islamic wares came to be known in Japan as "Persian Pottery," a term that is still in general use today. Contains descriptive text in English and Japanese of each plate shown. Discoloration near spine from small removed circular sticker. Spine slightly sunned. Bottom corner of pages with light bump throughout, otherwise in very good condition. Scarce. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 33096
