Beschreibung
An excellent first edition of of John Buchan's final Hannay and Arbuthnot novel, an exciting thriller. The first edition, first impression of this John Buchan thriller, in the publisher's original price unclipped dust wrapper. The Island of Sheep' is a tense thriller, the last of Buchan's novels to focus on Richard Hannay and Sandy Arbuthnot. The novel reuses a title that Buchan had used seventeen years earlier for a political book, written in conjunction with his wife. Sales of that book had been disappointing, and Buchan insisted on reusing the title in 1936, against the advice of his American publishers who still held unsold stocks of the earlier book. In the publisher's original cloth binding, with price unclipped dust wrapper. Light shelf wear to back strip tail, otherwise externally excellent. Minor spotting to fore edge of text block. Loss to dust wrapper back strip tail, with small closed tears to head and tail of dust wrapper. Small neat tape repairs to dust wrapper reverse, with further spotting to dust wrapper reverse. Internally, firmly bound. Pages exceptionally bright, with the odd instance of light spotting. Near Fine. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 872F44
