A first edition collection of seventeen comic Italian stories from various authors. Sixteen illustrative drawings by George Cruikshank. George Cruikshank was a British caricaturist and illustrator praised as the "modern Hogarth". He illustrated some of the works of Charles Dickens which gained him an international audience. The tales include: The Dead Rider, The Merchant of Venice, Antonia and Veronica and many more. In English. In a half calf binding. Externally, sound though a trifle rubbed. Base corners are bumped and there is some rubbing to spine. Internally, firmly bound with heavy spotting to some illustrated plates, otherwise just light foxing to pages. Good.
