First edition, landscape format hardcover in illustrated paper covered boards. Yellow background, black outlined title with red/white cross hatch (plaid) design within the letters of Jock & Jill. Frt board shows two scotties reading a 'Mother Goose Rhymes' book that shows Mom and a Goose on the frt cover, and two scotties on the rear cover. Book has charming green and yellow plaid end papers with 13 different draings of black scotties wearing a green harness romping, running, betting, hiding all over them. Book has 43 pages with a drawing on each and every page, 8 of them are in color, the rest are b/w. Book is 9.5" long x 7.25" and shows rubbed tips and spine ends, board feet are in good shape without major shelf wear. Inner hinges are a touch loose but sewn in page block is tight and going nowhere. Text is clean save for occasional light finger soil in margins and there is a small area of erased crayon on the foot of the rear endpaper only. No names or tears to the text, no taped pages. Yellow background illustrated boards are bright with a couple of crease marks and light indentations on rear board but no actual bent cardboard. Despite the heavy wear on the tips and spine ends, the book still displays very well on the shelf and due to it's rarity, could most certainly be considered for gift giving.
