Stamp of the Maine Historical Society on page one; no other internal markings. This paper was read at the annual meeting of the Pocumtuck Memorial Valley Association in August 1911 and is considered one of the best stories of the 1704 Deerfield Massacre. Ensign John Sheldon built the historic Old Indian House whose scarred and battered front door is housed in Deerfield's Memorial Hall. Jennie Maria Arms Sheldon (1852-1938) was an American entomologist, educator, historian, and author. She was the curator of the Memorial Hall Museum in Deerfield, MA for a quarter of a century.
