Bold red, hardback book, with gilt title impressions on the spine. Comes with nice dust jacket, a tad worn around the edges and corners, please see images. The book is in good condition, normal wear, marks and tear apply consistent with use and age. Some brown foxing marks along edge of papers. Personal pen and ink signature on first blank page dated 1956. 139 pages all intact, all pages, text and illustrations are in really good, clean, readable order. The Royal House has by tradition been closely associated with sport in its many aspects, and during the past century shooting particularly has become a regular feature of the royal calendar. For King George the Sixth, however, this pursuit was more than a casual recreation, and there has probably never been a sovereign in any realm (there may never be another) who devoted so much attention to the art of shooting while performing in that sport himself with such exceptional skill. This sporting side of the late King's life therefore merits a book of its own, and in its writing the author has been privileged to have by him, His Majesty's own game books, faithfully recorded in his own hand. Much of the King's sport was enjoyed at his Norfolk home, and Mr. Aubrey Buxton-himself a Norfolk man, naturalist and sportsman, who has shot in the King's company-is thus particularly well fitted to tell his story. King George's summer holidays in Scotland were also treasured interludes of sporting relaxation, and this book is enriched by a contribution from a close friend who was an annual guest at Balmoral. A fascinating and informative read, ideal for all royal historian's. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 1267
